Published 17 June 2024
Request
- Does the SIA provide professional indemnity insurance for members?
- Is there a public record of security professionals that are registered with the SIA?
- Is [redacted], a security professional based in Aberdeen, licensed by the SIA? In November 2023 he was working as door staff at [redacted].
Response
I can confirm that the SIA holds some of this information.
Question 1
No. The SIA is not the employer of the security operatives we license, nor do we operate a membership scheme. The SIA is the regulator for the private security industry. We license individuals to hold an SIA licence in their respective sector. We do not license companies. You can find out more about us and the sectors we license here: Find out if you need an SIA licence.
Question 2
Yes, the SIA has a register of licence holders that is available for the public to view. You can access that here: Register of licence holders.
Question 3
If you would like to see whether an individual holds an SIA licence, please visit the register of licence holders link above. The SIA does not hold information about where licensed operatives have worked.
