We know how time consuming it can be when taking on new starters and we want to make this process as simple as possible for all employers and employees. 

Getting this right helps to make sure new employees are paid correctly – including paying the right tax and National Insurance contributions, that protect their entitlement to the State Benefits they’ll need later in life.   

It’s important that new employees and employers understand what information they need to provide HMRC, to ensure their PAYE record is accurate. 

How you can help 

We have provided these communications resources for stakeholders to use across your own channels to help share important information with your workforce. 

We want employees to: 

  • know what information to provide to their new employer 
  • understand where to find this information. 

We want employers to: 

  • understand what information to provide HMRC about their new employees 
  • know how to submit this in the correct format 
  • pass on this information to their new starters explaining how to provide accurate personal information 
  • share campaign messaging with relevant members of their business (for example, payroll and HR)
