Details

In October 2010, the Department for Work and Pensions and Her Majesty’s Revenues and Customs jointly published a strategy for tackling welfare benefit fraud in collaboration with local authorities. Known as Tackling Fraud and Error in the Benefit and Tax Credit systems, the strategy was refreshed on 6 February 2012 as part of a wider government strategy to reduce fraud and error. It also reinforced the principles behind the policy to develop a SFIS to investigate fraud across the benefit and tax credits system.
