This letter is Patrick McLoughlin’s, the Secretary of State for Transport’s, response to Sir Peter Hendy’s re-plan report. It explains that the Transport Secretary accepts the report’s recommendations, subject to a short period of consultation with the rail industry.

Background to Sir Peter Hendy’s re-plan report

The Transport Secretary asked Sir Peter Hendy to develop proposals for how the rail upgrade programme could be put on a realistic and sustainable footing. Sir Peter Hendy’s re-plan report was published on Network Rail’s website on 25 November 2015 as part of the government’s Spending Review announcements.
