Details
Smart meters enable new technologies, such as electric vehicles (EVs), to be efficiently and cost-effectively integrated with renewable energy sources. Smart meters can make charging electric vehicles cheaper and greener by giving consumers greater control over their energy use. Drivers will be able to plug their car in, and automatically charge at the cheapest, lowest carbon point, rather than over the expensive evening peak.
Beyond Off Street is a government initiative to promote innovation and demonstrate how smart meters can offer a long-term solution for smart EV charging.
The two winning projects were announced on 17 August 2020. Read further details about the winning projects.
