We have published details of the Phase 2 project.
The Smart Meter Energy Data Repository (SEDR) Programme aims to support innovation to determine the technical and commercial feasibility of a smart meter energy data repository. This will enable future innovation of products and services to benefit consumers while ensuring their data remains protected under the Smart Meter Data Access and Privacy Framework.
The programme consists of 2 phases:
- Phase 1: feasibility, establishing the feasibility of a smart meter energy data repository through funding feasibility studies and proposing a Technical Solution for establishing a system-wide repository
- Phase 2: developing and demonstrating a ‘proof of concept’ capable of simulating key features of a smart meter energy data repository and setting out recommendations for how a system wide repository may be created
This programme is part of the overarching Flexibility Innovation Programme which seeks to enable large-scale widespread electricity system flexibility through smart, flexible, secure, and accessible technologies and markets. The Flexibility Innovation Programme will fund innovation across a range of key smart energy applications, and sits within the Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP).
