Following the launch of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) Demonstrator in October 2020, £61 million in funding has been awarded to 16 local authorities for 18 projects.
The SHDF Demonstrator project is an initial investment to learn lessons and catalyse innovation in retrofitting for the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, for which the manifesto committed £3.8 billion of new funding in 2019.
These projects will demonstrate innovative approaches to retrofitting social housing at scale, using a whole house approach. The projects will retrofit over 2,100 homes to bring them up to Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) band C or higher.
Details of the 16 local authorities to be awarded funding are available on the attached page.
The SHDF Demonstrator competition is closed to applications.
The government launched Wave 1 of the SHDF in August 2021. It will provide up to £160 million of funding in the 2021/2022 financial year. The bidding window closed in October 2021 and the outcomes of bids will be disclosed in due course.
