Details

This new NNR in Somerset combines 6 existing reserves (managing bodies shown in brackets):

  • Bridgwater Bay (NE and EA)
  • Ham Wall (RSPB)
  • Huntspill River (EA)
  • Shapwick Heath (NE)
  • Somerset Levels (NE)
  • Westhay Moor (SWT)

The combined site is also extended and renamed as Somerset Wetlands NNR. This is shaded yellow on the declaration map attached to this page.

The tenure map attached to this page shows which body holds and manages each area of the new NNR. The approved bodies are:

  • Environment Agency (EA)
  • Hawk and Owl Trust (HOT)
  • National Trust (NT)
  • Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB)
  • Somerset Wildlife Trust (SWT)
  • Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT)
