Southern North Sea and Channel skate and ray fisheries management plan (FMP)

The Southern North Sea and Channel skate and ray FMP will set out how we will achieve the long-term sustainable management of skate and ray fisheries in the relevant English waters.

Details

A public consultation is seeking views on a proposed Southern North Sea and Channel skate and ray FMP.

The Southern North Sea and Channel skate and ray FMP is being developed by the Marine Management Organisation (MMO).

The FMP will be prepared and published to meet the requirements set out in the Fisheries Act 2020.

Species

The Southern North Sea and Channel skate and ray FMP will include the following species:

  • skate and ray
  • blonde ray
  • cuckoo ray
  • small-eyed ray
  • spotted ray
  • starry ray
  • thornback ray
  • undulate ray

Areas covered

The FMP will cover English waters within International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) divisions 4b, 4c, 7d and 7e.
