Spatial distribution of under 12m fishing activity and sensitivity to offshore wind development in the east marine plan areas {MMO1382}
This project responds to an evidence gap on the lack of high spatial resolution fishing activity data for the under-12 meter (<12m) fleet.

The report focuses on the east marine plan areas given the upcoming replacement of the East Marine Plan and the need to understand the spatial distribution of activities occurring in the areas. The uses of the evidence extend beyond the East Marine Plan replacement, however. The primary objective of the project was to produce high resolution fishing activity maps of <12m fishing for vessels with a home port in the east marine plan areas. The secondary objective was to investigate the sensitivity of different gear types to different stages of offshore wind development. MMO contracted Poseidon and AVS to undertake eight workshops with fishermen across the east marine plan areas, applying participatory mapping and sensitivity analysis methods to produce a report including a suite of maps. The report is an indicative (not exhaustive) analysis of <12m fishing activity in the east marine plan areas so the data should be used accordingly with the appropriate caveats described in the limitations section.
