Details
Paying public sector workers additional, discretionary sums on top of other redundancy entitlements does not usually represent value for money and should only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
This statutory guidance sets out the criteria employers should consider in the exceptional circumstances in which it may be appropriate to make a special severance payment, gives examples of these exceptional circumstances, and clarifies the disclosure and reporting requirements for these payments.
A limited consultation with interested parties was carried out on draft guidance and the documents are published on this page.
