We are the Environment Agency and we have published ‘Spreading organic manures on agricultural land: RPS 252’. It explains when we will allow you to spread organic manure in excess of crop and soil need.

How we use your personal data

We are the data controller for personal data relating to regulatory position statements (RPSs). A data controller determines how and why personal data (personal information) is processed.

The personal data we will collect

The personal data we process that relates to RPS 252 includes the:

  • name of the person and company using the RPS, including their email address and phone number
  • address where the material relating to the RPS will be used
  • type of material that will be spread

We’re allowed to process your personal data because we have official authority as the environmental regulator. We need this data to carry out a task in the public interest that is set out in law.

If you do not give us this personal data, you will not comply with the conditions in this RPS. You should make sure that you to plan each application of organic manures to meet, but not exceed soil and crop needs.

What we do with your personal data

We use your personal data to:

  • help us identify who is using this RPS
  • cross check with any reported incidents, if required

We may also use the data to carry out site inspections and further investigations, if required.

We do not use your data to make an automated decision or for automated profiling.

We put all the information in your notification to us on a secure spreadsheet. The information is not held on a public register and we will not share your personal data with anyone else outside the Environment Agency without your consent, unless we are required to do so by law.

How long we keep your personal data

We will keep your personal data for a maximum of 3 years.

Where your personal data is processed and stored

We transfer your data through Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers in Ireland. We store the data on Microsoft Azure servers in Ireland. The data will not be transferred outside the European Economic Area.
