Country policy and information notes (previously known as country information and guidance reports) are used by UK Visas and Immigration officials to make decisions in asylum and human rights applications.

The notes also give information on asylum seekers’ countries of origin.

   Updated the country policy and information note: sexual orientation and gender identity, Sri Lanka with the latest version from September 2024.

2. 14 April 2023

   Information on Tamil separatism updated. The guidance has been updated in section 5.4 to reflect the fact that there is no longer a requirement for decisions to be reviewed by a second pair of eyes.
