The UK and European Union have agreed to terms on a Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, due to come into force on 1 January 2021. This agreement contains provisions related to subsidy control. We will provide guidance to help public authorities understand these commitments and the impact of them.
In addition, from 1 January, the UK will continue to follow World Trade Organisation (WTO) subsidy rules and other international commitments. The EU state aid rules will no longer apply to the UK (except for the limited circumstances set out in the Northern Ireland Protocol). Guidance to help you understand these WTO rules and other international subsidy commitments will be available shortly.
Aims to help universities and research organisations to better understand the state aid issues involved in their activities in research, development and innovation (R&D&I).
