The NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHS BSP) in England does not currently include the assessment or recording of breast density on screening mammograms. Research is being conducted to assess appropriate imaging techniques across the range of risk factors and the programme awaits evidence for benefit and resource implications prior to the systematic collection of breast density on the entire eligible population. The UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC) collect and review evidence on a regular basis and consider any new evidence for changes to screening programmes in accordance with their criteria.
