The Environment Agency has withdrawn the regulatory position statement ‘Cleansing and PPE waste at a healthcare waste management facility: RPS C1’ because it has expired.

Details

This COVID-19 regulatory position statement (RPS) only applies to:

  • waste from cleaning people or places infected, or potentially infected, with coronavirus (COVID-19)
  • separately collected personal protective equipment (PPE) waste, for example used facemasks and gloves, from commercial premises and produced as a result of social distancing measures

This COVID-19 RPS allows this waste to be safely stored and treated at a healthcare waste management facility.

If you follow the conditions in this COVID-19 RPS, and your permit allows you to:

  • store waste coded 18 01 03* you can also store waste coded 15 02 02*
  • treat waste coded 18 01 03* you can also treat waste coded 15 02 02*
  • store waste coded 18 01 04 you can also store waste coded 15 02 03
  • treat waste coded 18 01 04 you can also treat waste coded 15 02 03
