Summer firing timings

Weekdays: 9am to 4pm (may be extended)
Evenings: from 30 mins before dusk until 11.45pm
Weekends: 9am to 12.30pm

Winter firing timings

Weekdays: 9am to 4pm (may be extended)
Evenings: from 30 mins before dusk until 9.30pm
Weekends: 9am to 4pm

Woodbury Common Grenade Range

There is live grenade firing on 7 and 25 November 2024.

Firing (throwing) timings

Weekdays: 10am to 3pm (timings may be extended by exception to meet key training objectives)

Weekends: No live throwing at weekends (weekend live throwing may take place by exception to meet key training objectives)

Your safety

Follow all Ministry of Defence warning signs:

If the red flags and/or lights are hoisted, regardless of the timings or published dates, do not enter the Range Danger area as there is a danger to life.

Red flags (daylight hours) and red lights (evening hours) indicate that live firing is taking place within the ranges’ danger areas (sea or land).

For your own safety do not touch any military debris, it may be dangerous.

Location

Straight Point Range Complex (SPRC) is 10 miles south of Exeter between Sandy Bay and Otter Cove. Access routes to SPRC are through the Devon Cliffs Holiday park at Sandy Bay, EX8 5BT.

The firing range covers the peninsula area south of the South West Coast Path.
