Details

The United States co-hosted the second Summit for Democracy with Costa Rica, the Netherlands, Republic of Korea and the Republic of Zambia on 29 to 30 March 2023.

The Summit aimed to:

  • show progress made on commitments during the Summit’s Year of Action
  • announce new commitments or initiatives
  • highlight the key themes of democracy delivering, and the need for collective action to meet the greatest challenges of our time

This Summit declaration affirms our efforts and shared resolve to:

  • support democracy domestically, regionally, and internationally
  • combat authoritarianism
  • advance multilateral dialogue and cooperation
  • safeguard the full and effective exercise of human rights
