Support and aspiration: a consultation

Details

‘Support and aspiration’ makes wide-ranging proposals to respond to the difficulties facing children and young people, their families and the professionals who work with them.

The consultation proposes a different system to ensure better life outcomes for young people and give parents more control and confidence. It also proposes to transfer power to professionals working directly with families and to their local communities.

This publication marks the start of a 4-month consultation period. Proposals will be trialled in local areas in September 2011.

The recommendations to come out of this consultation process were published on 15 May 2012 in ‘Support and aspiration: a new approach to special educational needs and disability - progress and next steps.’
