Applies to England

Details of the application

Surrey County Council has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to make changes to the existing dam at Bolder Mere, near junction 10 of the M25. The works will secure its continued stability and safety, and will accommodate improvements to the A3 which runs alongside the reservoir at site. The works include removing vegetation from the banks of the reservoir, installing a new sheet piling which will allow excavation of material behind it. This will be backfilled to ground level to allow for the widening of the A3 carriageway by 2 to 10 metres.
