The key aims of this study were to:

  • get information on the characteristics of employment tribunal claimants and employers
  • assess the costs of going to tribunals for claimants and employers
  • monitor the performance of the employment tribunal claim process

This report will be of interest to policy makers and academics studying all aspects of the employment tribunal process for employers and claimants, including:

  • process before a claim (including Early Conciliation)
  • effects of conciliation
  • impact of Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS)
  • costs and benefits of tribunals
  • characteristics of involved parties
  • Employment Tribunal Fees

The report builds on the findings from the earlier 2013 study.
