During week 16 the GP in-hours consultation rate for allergic rhinitis decreased, though activity remained above seasonally expected levels. Respiratory indicators in general decreased in line with seasonally expected trends. Please note, week 16 contains the Easter bank holiday weekend (Friday 18 April to Monday 21 April), activity and trends should therefore be interpreted with some caution.
Remote health advice syndromic surveillance system
Total NHS 111 triaged calls and online assessments increased over the Easter bank holiday weekend (Friday 18 April to Monday 21 April) in line with expected heightened activity during a public holiday. Activity and trends should therefore be interpreted with some caution during week 16.

GP in-hours syndromic surveillance system
During week 16, GP in-hours consultation rates for respiratory conditions including upper respiratory tract infections and influenza-like illness continued to decrease and remained in line with expected seasonal trends and levels. Consultation rates for allergic rhinitis also decreased, although activity remained above seasonally expected levels.
Please note, week 16 contains a public holiday (Friday 18 April) when GP in-hours services are not routinely available.

GP out-of-hours syndromic surveillance system
During week 16, GP out-of-hours contacts for diarrhoea increased slightly, while contacts for gastroenteritis in general and vomiting remained stable.

Emergency department syndromic surveillance system
During week 16, ED attendances for acute respiratory infections continued to decrease, in line with seasonally expected trends. Attendances for gastroenteritis remained stable, but were above seasonally expected levels.
