The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Pattemore’s Transport (Crewkerne) Limited.

Application is for a new bespoke permit for an existing dairy site as the production capacity is above the regulatory threshold. The application is for the following listed activities:
S6.8 Part A(1)(e) – Treating and processing milk, the quantity of milk received being more than 200 tonnes per day (average value on an annual basis).
S5.4 Part A(1)(a)(i) – Disposal of non-hazardous waste with a capacity exceeding 50 tonnes per day involving biological treatment.
The facility receives raw cow’s milk which is processed to produce various dairy products, such as pasteurised milk, cream and concentrated skimmed milk from cream production. The applicant has also proposed to install a goat milk processing line; and a separate plant-based milk packing line at the facility. The site has 4 boilers which are fuelled on kerosene. The site has an effluent treatment plant which has an existing water discharge consent discharging to a tributary of the River Parrett.
