In 2014, the Talent Action Plan was published, setting out measures to remove the barriers preventing talented people succeeding.

Today, we are providing an assessment of our progress to date and priorities for the year ahead. There has been significant progress, laying down firm foundations to ensure we become the most inclusive Civil Service in the world. But we know there is more to do.

This update sets out ‘Our Social Mobility Plan’, responding to the challenges identified in the Bridge Group report published earlier this year.

This research has provided a springboard for an ambitious programme of work across the whole Civil Service. Our Social Mobility Plan signals our ambition for the Civil Service to act as a leader, not simply addressing our own challenges, but also, through collaboration with employers and organisations, encouraging others to take action to tackle inequality in their organisations.
