Tarmac Trading Limited: application made to abstract water

Tarmac Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number MD/028/0069/041 to abstract water from underground strata comprising of sand and gravels at Langford Quarry, Collingham, Nottinghamshire (two areas contained within the boundaries formed by straight lines running between the following National Grid References (NGRs): SK 80812 60840, SK 80078 60043, SK 81314 59028, and SK 82467 60168) for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use to Main Lake at National Grid Reference: SK 81665 59751.

The variation proposes to amend the abstraction areas by extending one area and removing the second area to leave a single abstraction area contained within the boundaries formed by straight lines running between the following NGRs: SK 80530 60651, SK 82158 59620, SK 81690 58881 and SK 80062 59912.

The application does not seek to vary maximum abstraction volumes, which remain:

  • 540 cubic metres an hour

  • 12,960 cubic metres a day

  • 4,536,000 cubic metres a year
