Tarmac Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number 1/21/00/074/R01 which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising of sands and gravels at Akeld, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland.
The variation applied for is to relocate the existing abstraction point from National Grid Reference (NGR) NT 95399 31199 (Old Quarry Sump) to NGR NT 95553 31011 (New Quarry Sump). The old and new quarry locations are approximately 250 metres apart. No other changes to the licence are being proposed as part of this variation.
