Tarmac Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from an underground strata comprising of glacial sands and gravels from an excavation area at Hemingford Grey Quarry, South of Hemingford Grey, Cambridgeshire. The excavation area is between National Grid References TL 29557 69583, TL 29965 69424, TL 29772 69210 and TL 29467 69401. The water will be transferred to a lake at Hemingford Grey Quarry at National Grid Reference TL 30115 69600 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 330.42 cubic metres an hour
  • 7,930 cubic metres a day
  • 2,894,450 cubic metres a year
  • between 01 January and 31 December inclusive in each year.
