This report presents the findings of a one-off rapid evidence assessment of the academic and grey literature on teaching relationships education to prevent sexual abuse, which was supported by 2 workshops with subject experts to fill evidence gaps and develop recommendations. 

In total, 86 studies met the criteria to be included in the evidence assessment and were reviewed in full.

The review summarised the literature into 4 broad topics which formed that chapters of the report:

  • pedagogy and the whole school approach
  • boundaries, consent, and privacy
  • sexual violence and harassment
  • domestic violence and peer abuse
