Details

This paper considers the antecedents, role and early development, and future of teaching schools as agents of change in our evolving pattern of schooling. The story is in three parts:

  1. Evolution - traces the concept of teaching schools from their roots in teacher and clinical training to their position in the school system as leaders of alliances and key schools in established chains.
  2. Implementation - illustrates how teaching school alliances are approaching the organisation and delivery of six key strands of activity required of them.
  3. Projection - considers the future of teaching school alliances in a changing educational landscape and discusses some of the challenges they face.
