Details
On 12 September 2014, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs granted a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the Thames Tideway Tunnel project. The pre-application, examination and DCO documents can be found on the Planning Inspectorate website.
The DCO authorises Thames Water Utilities Limited to construct and operate a wastewater transfer and storage tunnel, a number of connection tunnels and other associated development and ancillary works. The works include 24 sites in London along the route of the tunnel, including works to construct interception structures at 16 combined sewage overflows, as well as other associated development.
On 16 March 2015 the MMO decided to vary the deemed marine licence contained within schedule 15 of The Thames Water Utilities Limited (Thames Tideway Tunnel Order) 2015 under section 72 of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009. A second variation was completed on 17 August 2017. The varied deemed marine licence is effective from 17 August 2017.
