Thameside Energy Recovery Facility Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from an area of abstraction (made ground, peat and alluvial layers measuring approximately 120 metres by 60 metres) centred at National Grid Reference (NGR) TQ 62067 77170 at Thurrock Park, Tilbury, Essex.
The application is to abstract water as follows:

20 cubic metres an hour

200 cubic metres a day

73,000 cubic metres a year

between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.
The abstraction is to dewater the area specified above to facilitate the construction of a residual waste thermal treatment facility on site. All abstracted water will be discharged to the Botney Channel at NGR TQ 62022 77243.
