The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) gathered information on the experiences of potential teacher trainees. In-depth telephone interviews were conducted and over half of those interviewed chose not to apply for initial teacher training (ITT) and early years ITT.
The research points to a number of actions the NCTL could take to reduce the barriers to ITT and increase its attraction.
