Details

This guidance describes our expectations for the management and disposal of radioactive waste when preparing for, or actively undertaking, the decommissioning of nuclear facilities.

An operator should plan for decommissioning at the start of a facility’s lifecycle. Once a facility’s operations have stopped, decontamination, dismantling and disposal will need to take place in compliance with the operator’s radioactive substances activity permit.

The Environment Agency has produced this guidance with Natural Resources Wales.
