Details of the application

The East Bergholt Estate Company Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a new full licence to abstract from the Stutton Brook at East Bergholt, Suffolk at National Grid Reference (NGR) TM 08540 36221.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 36 cubic metres an hour
  • 864 cubic metres a day
  • 40,000 cubic metres a year
  • 10 litres per second
  • between November and March inclusive in each year.

The water will be used to fill a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation.

Further details are: a lined storage reservoir of 40,000 cubic metres of water capacity will be constructed and centred around NGR TM 08364 35993.
