This is the government response to the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee’s report ‘The economics of HS2’, which was published in March 2015.

The response highlights the case for HS2, explaining that it will:

  • provide over £2 of benefits for every £1 invested
  • transform the UK and help to rebalance the economy
  • improve capacity and connectivity to support long term economic growth
