The Ilfracombe Harbour Revision Order
On 7 September 2022, North Devon Council (“the applicant”) made a formal application to the Marine Management Organisation (“MMO”) under Section 14 of the Harbours Act 1964 for a Harbour Revision Order (“HRO”).

If made, the proposed HRO would define the limits of Ilfracombe Harbour. The proposed HRO would also modernise the Council’s powers to manage and regulate the harbour, including powers to, give general and special directions, establish an advisory body or bodies consisting of harbour stakeholder, for the making of byelaws, navigational safety, conservation, dredging, moorings, bunkering, levying of charges and the use of harbour revenue; and powers to vest in the Council to borrow, to establish a reserve fund, to develop or dispose of land, and to grant tenancies.
More information about the proposals can be viewed in the statement in support and the draft HRO. The statutory 42-day public consultation on the HRO starts 13 July 2023 and ends on 23 August 2023. An objection or representation should:

Be received before the expiry of a period of 42-days consultation period;

Be made in writing and quoting reference HRO/2022/00005;

State the grounds of the objection or representation;

Indicate who is making the objection or representation; and

Give an address to which correspondence relating to the objection or representation may be sent.
