The Leven Canal Company Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a transfer licence to abstract water from The River Hull at Leven Canal Lock to transfer it to The Leven Canal at National Grid Reference TA 05597 44926 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 19 cubic metres an hour
- 452 cubic metres a day
- 55,590 cubic metres a year
- between 01 April and 30 September in each year.
The water will be used for the purpose of maintaining water levels following losses from evapotranspiration of the Site of Special Scientific Interest, Leven Canal.
