The Master (or Keeper) and Fellows of Peterhouse in the University of Cambridge has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the river Great Ouse at Manor Farm, Stretham, Cambridgeshire at National Grid Reference TL 52158 73639.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 190 cubic metres an hour
- 4,500 cubic metres a day
- 40,000 cubic metres a year
- between 1 November and 31 March inclusive in each year.
The water will be used for filling a storage reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation of crops.
The proposed abstraction lies within the Cam and Ely Ouse Including South Level Abstraction Licensing Strategy area.
