This paper offers a comprehensive framework to demonstrate our commitment to the armed forces and our gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

Maintaining the principles and commitments of the command paper forms one element of our work to rebuild the covenant.

Two principles underpin it.

First, it is designed to end any disadvantage that armed service imposes on our people, their families and veterans. It specifically seeks to counter the difficulties that follow from being required to move around the country or the world, and identifies those areas where special treatment is needed to achieve this.

Second, the paper sets out how we can better support and recognise those who have been wounded in the service of their country.
