Increases in all rates of the National Minimum Wage (NMW), including the National Living Wage (NLW), come into effect from 1 April. These increases were announced by the Government last October, following recommendations by the Low Pay Commission (LPC).
This uprating report from the LPC looks at the likely effects of these changes. The minimum wage rates from 1 April 2025 are as follows:
NMW rate from 1 April 2025 | Annual increase (£) | Annual increase (per cent) | |
National Living Wage (21 and over) | £12.21 | £0.77 | 6.7 |
18-20 Year Old Rate | £10.00 | £1.40 | 16.3 |
16-17 Year Old Rate | £7.55 | £1.15 | 18.0 |
Apprentice Rate | £7.55 | £1.15 | 18.0 |
Accommodation Offset | £10.66 | £0.67 | 6.7 |
The LPC is continuing to gather evidence towards future recommendations to the Government, including via a programme of regional visits. We will launch our written consultation in the near future.
