Details

The main aim of the national standard for incident recording counting rules is to ensure that all incidents, whether crime or non-crime, are recorded by police in a consistent and accurate manner. This allows resulting data to be used at a local and national level for management and performance information needs.

This document contains the national incident category list (NICL) and counting rules for the national standard for incident recording, as well as guidance on the background to the project and its aims and objectives.
