Home Office circular 015/2010: The Police Pensions (Additional Voluntary Contributions) (Amendment) Regulations 2010 SI No.2235
These regulations make amendments to the Police Pensions (Additional Voluntary Contributions) Regulations 1991 SI No.1304.
This circular advises of the closure of the police AVC scheme to new, increased and transferred in business as of 1 October 2010. This follows consultation with the Police Negotiating Board.
The changes brought in by the amendment regulations are as follows:
- A police officer may no longer join the police additional voluntary contribution scheme.
- A police officer may no longer increase the amount of additional voluntary contributions if he/she is already a member of the scheme.
- A police officer may no longer transfer additional voluntary contributions into the police scheme from another AVC scheme.
These changes have effect from 1 October 2010.
Those officers who already make additional voluntary contributions may continue to do so, although they may not increase the amount they contribute, or they may choose to cease payments.
The amending regulations may be viewed on the legislation.gov.uk website.
