The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number 01/140/R01 which authorises the abstraction of water from Lipwell Stream at Northward Hill RSPB Reserve at Cooling, Rochester, between National Grid References (NGRs) TQ 78157 78848, TQ 79800 76896, TQ 77808 75242 and TQ 75736 76766.
The variation applied for is: three new abstraction points for the purpose of wetland support. The three new abstraction points are at NGRs TQ 78392 78004, TQ 78295 78113, and TQ 77601 76917.
The quantity of water abstracted for each abstraction point is:
- 50 cubic metres an hour
- 200 cubic metres a day
- 6,420 cubic metres a year
- between April and May inclusive in each year.
