The Trent Rivers Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for 4 licences.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

All applications are situated on the Henmore Brook, Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

The application at Nether Farm is to abstract water as follows:

  • 428 cubic metres an hour
  • 10,264 cubic metres a day
  • 1,970,688 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.

All water will be returned to the Henmore Brook at NGR SK 19434 46702. The palaeochannel will act to retain water in the upper catchment and provide areas of refuge for fish and invertebrates during periods of low flow.

The weirs at Brook Farm, Atlow Mill and Corley Farm are being removed to improve fish and invertebrate passage as well as sediment transportation.
