Could you please supply me with information regarding driving theory and practical tests for cars at your Upton and Wallasey test centres (both in Wirral). In particular, I would like to know:

Since 2009, what is the most amount of times it has taken for a male to pass his practical driving test at each test centre?

The table below shows the most amount of attempts it has taken a male and female candidate to pass their car practical driving test since 1 April 2009 at Upton and Wallesey driving test centres. This information is broken down by test centre and gender.
Please note that this only includes attempts taken after 1 April 2009, any attempts taken prior to this date have not been included. Please also note that this information is based on the candidate’s final attempt being taken at Upton or Wallesey, previous attempts may have been taken at other test centres and will have been included.

The table below shows the most amount of attempts it has taken a male and female candidate with a correspondence address with a postcode starting CH46, CH48, CH49, CH60, CH61 or CH63 to pass their car theory test since 1 April 2009. Please note that this only includes attempts taken after 1 April 2009, any attempts taken prior to this date have not been included.

This information is therefore exempt under section 21 (information accessible by other means) of the FoIA. A full explanation of this exemption can be found at Annex A.
You also requested this information for January and February 2013; this information is due to be published on 27 June 2013 and will be available on our website at the link above. This information is exempt from release under section 44 (1)(a) (prohibitions on disclosure) by virtue of the Pre-release Access to Official Statistics Order 2008 which limits access to official statistics until their date of publication. As this exemption is an absolute exemption we are not required to conduct a public interest test. A copy of this exemption in full can be found at Annex B.
