Transport Research and Innovation Grants (TRIG) allow the Department for Transport (DfT) to support innovative projects, ideas or concepts that facilitate a better transport system. The grants are typically awarded annually.
The TRIG fund’s purpose is to:
- encourage the development of new technology solutions to DfT challenges
- provide innovators with support to try out new ideas – to show early promise or fail fast
- join up innovators with DfT colleagues in a safe setting and allow them to learn together
- fund early-stage innovations to take to the next stage of development
Prior to October 2021, the grant was called the Technology-Transport Research Innovation Grant (T-TRIG).
