List of the projects which have been given Transport Research Innovation Grant (TRIG) funding since 2014.

The most recent funding competition was launched in October 2022.

Transport Research and Innovation Grants (TRIG) allow the Department for Transport (DfT) to support innovative projects, ideas or concepts that facilitate a better transport system. The grants are typically awarded annually.

The TRIG fund’s purpose is to:

  • encourage the development of new technology solutions to DfT challenges
  • provide innovators with support to try out new ideas – to show early promise or fail fast
  • join up innovators with DfT colleagues in a safe setting and allow them to learn together
  • fund early-stage innovations to take to the next stage of development

Prior to October 2021, the grant was called the Technology-Transport Research Innovation Grant (T-TRIG).
