I am writing to obtain documents relating to the Treasury’s opinions on assessments of the costs and benefits of EU membership undertaken by third parties.
Disclosure
These documents relate to reviews of published literature on the economic costs and benefits of the UK’s membership of the EU from 2005 and 2010.
These reviews are regularly updated by Treasury officials to ensure that the ir information is as up-to-date as possible. The most recent update in our records is from November 2010. Both reviews provide a summary of published evidence of the economic costs and benefits of the UK’s membership. Neither review seeks to cover wider benefits of membership.
