Details

This regulatory position statement (RPS) does not change your legal requirement to get an environmental permit for a waste operation when you store, treat and use waste water containing suspended solids   at construction sites.

However, the Environment Agency will not normally take enforcement action if you do not comply with this legal requirement if you meet the requirements in the RPS.

The regulatory position does not apply to any other legal requirements.

  1. Updated RPS to the new template. Removed concrete water related content and included in new RPS 'Treating and using water containing concrete at construction sites: RPS 287'.

  2. We have added a paragraph on how you can treat water in the 'Conditions you must comply with' section. This specifies when you can use chemicals and accommodates some low risk industry-wide practices.

  3. First published.
