Public health commissioners and service providers can use these guides to help:

• understand the national and regional context of different aspects of substance misuse activity and harm
• commission, plan and improve services aimed at preventing and treating substance misuse

The guides use best practice case studies from around the country alongside checklists of ‘prompts’ that local healthcare professionals can use to investigate and improve the local situation.
