The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) is a survey of the educational achievement of pupils in years 5 and 9, organised by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA).

For the 2023 cycle, England’s national report is published in 2 volumes and provides analysis of the TIMSS 2023 findings for England and compares England’s performance to other participating countries.

Volume 1: focuses on comparisons of England’s pupils’ performance in mathematics and science.

Volume 2: focuses on pupil characteristics and experiences with teaching and learning of both subjects.
